Enable Authentication

By default, MongoDB does not enable authentication, which means anyone can access your database. Enabling authentication requires users to provide valid credentials before accessing data.

MongoDB supports various authentication mechanisms including SCRAM, LDAP, and x.509 certificates.

• Enable authentication in the MongoDB configuration file by setting security.authorization to 'enabled'.
• Create administrative and application users with strong passwords.
• Use SCRAM-SHA-256 for secure password-based authentication.

Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

RBAC allows you to assign specific privileges to users based on their roles, limiting access to only what is necessary.
